Burnus Weaving Co. is a small, independent studio producing heirloom throws, table linens, and rugs from natural fibers — one loom, one warp, one careful pass at a time.
Founded in 2014 by Jennie Mills in a converted carriage house on Frosty Lane, Burnus began with a single 45-inch loom and a stubborn belief that home textiles could feel like heirlooms again. A decade later, we still weave the same way — patiently, one meter at a time, by two pairs of hands.
We source undyed wool from small Northeast farms, long-staple linen from established mills, and mineral pigments that age into their color rather than fade from it. Nothing in our studio is made to be thrown away.
Read Our StoryWool from Merino, alpaca and long-staple linen — chosen because they soften with use instead of pilling away. We do not blend with polyester.
Every piece is loomed by Jennie or one of our two studio weavers. No third-party factories, no drop-shipping, no shortcuts written into our warp.
Every Burnus textile carries a lifetime repair promise. Send it back — we'll re-weave the corner or re-fringe the edge, at no charge.
We release two collections per year. Each piece is available while the warp lasts.
Fibers arrive from a handful of Northeast growers we've worked with for a decade.
We wash, card and spin — or contract to a small Vermont mill for heavier warp yarns.
Between 6 and 40 studio hours on a floor loom, depending on the piece and pattern.
Hand-fringed, softened, inspected, signed, and boxed in recycled paper for shipping.
My Frosty Lane throw has spent four winters on the same reading chair and looks better than the day it arrived. It feels like something my grandmother would have kept.

Jennie hand-wrote a note explaining how she sourced the wool for our runner. That kind of care is almost impossible to find now. We're customers for life.

We commissioned a set of napkins for our restaurant opening. Six months in, they wash beautifully and every guest asks where they're from.
